Orient air conditioners are among the most widely used in Pakistan, and like every inverter unit they use error codes to tell you what has gone wrong. This is the complete Orient inverter AC error code list, with what each code means and whether it is something you can clear yourself.
Orient AC Error Code List #
| Error Code | Meaning | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|---|
| E0 | Indoor unit overcurrent protection | Overloaded circuit, faulty wiring, compressor issues | Check circuit breaker, wiring, and consult a technician if the issue persists. |
| E1 | Indoor unit room temperature sensor error | Faulty sensor, loose connection, or wiring issue | Check sensor connection, replace if faulty, or check wiring. |
| E2 | Outdoor unit condenser sensor error | Faulty sensor, loose connection, or wiring issue | Check sensor connection, replace if faulty, or check wiring. |
| E3 | Indoor unit evaporator sensor error | Faulty sensor, loose connection, or wiring issue | Check sensor connection, replace if faulty, or check wiring. |
| E4 | AC or DC motor error | Faulty motor, loose connection, or wiring issue | Check motor connection, replace if faulty, or check wiring. |
| E5 | Indoor & outdoor unit communication error | Faulty PCB (Printed Circuit Board), loose wiring, communication module issue | Check wiring and connections, replace faulty PCB or communication module if needed. |
| E8 | Communication fault between display board & PCB board | Faulty display board or PCB, loose connection | Check connection between display board and PCB, replace faulty components if needed. |
| Eb | Indoor unit PCB error | Faulty PCB | Replace PCB. |
| F0 | Low refrigerant level | Refrigerant leak, faulty compressor | Contact a technician to check for leaks and recharge refrigerant. |
| F1 | Indoor unit PCB communication error | Faulty PCB | Replace PCB. |
| F2 | Indoor coil temperature sensor error | Faulty sensor, loose connection, or wiring issue | Check sensor connection, replace if faulty, or check wiring. |
| F3 | Outdoor ambient temperature sensor error | Faulty sensor, loose connection, or wiring issue | Check sensor connection, replace if faulty, or check wiring. |
| F4 | Outdoor pipe temperature sensor error | Faulty sensor, loose connection, or wiring issue | Check sensor connection, replace if faulty, or check wiring. |
| F5 | Discharge temperature sensor error | Faulty sensor, loose connection, or wiring issue | Check sensor connection, replace if faulty, or check wiring. |
| F6/F8/F9 | Overload protection / Overcurrent protection / High temperature protection (specific meaning varies depending on model) | Overloaded circuit, faulty compressor, dirty filters, or high ambient temperature | Check circuit breaker, clean filters, ensure proper ventilation, and consult a technician if needed. |
| FA | Compressor current error | Faulty compressor, faulty current sensor | Check compressor and current sensor, replace if faulty. |
| FC | 4-way valve error (for heat pump models) | Faulty 4-way valve | Replace 4-way valve. |
| P0 | Module under-voltage fault | Low voltage supply, loose connection | Check power supply and connections. |
| P1 | Communication error between indoor and outdoor PCB | Faulty PCB, loose connection | Check wiring and connections, replace faulty PCB. |
| P9 | Display panel & main control board communication failure | Faulty display panel or main control board, loose connection | Check connection between display panel and main control board, replace faulty components if needed. |
How to reset a Orient AC #
A reset clears temporary faults — communication glitches, a one-off protection trip, or a code left on screen after the cause has gone. It will not fix a genuine hardware fault, but it is always the first thing to try and costs nothing.
- Switch the unit off with the remote and wait a few seconds.
- Turn the AC off at the circuit breaker or unplug it.
- Leave it isolated for 5 to 10 minutes so the control board fully discharges.
- Restore power and switch the unit on with the remote.
- If the same code returns immediately, it is a real fault — note the code and call a technician.
Which codes you can clear yourself, and which need a technician #
| Type of fault | Can you fix it? | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Communication error between indoor and outdoor unit | Sometimes | Reset first. If it returns, the interconnecting cable or a board is at fault — technician. |
| Voltage or over-current protection | Often | Check your stabiliser and supply voltage. Repeated trips mean an electrical problem, not an AC problem. |
| Dirty filter or blocked outdoor unit | Yes | Clean the filters and clear debris and vegetation from around the outdoor unit. |
| Sensor fault (room, coil or outdoor sensor) | No | The sensor needs testing and replacing. Technician. |
| Refrigerant or gas-related fault | No | Usually a leak. Needs pressure testing and recharging by a technician. |
| Compressor, inverter module or PCB fault | No | Board-level repair. Do not attempt this yourself. |
