Most of the time you only need three things: press Mode until you see the snowflake for cooling, set the temperature to around 26°C, and leave fan speed on Auto. That’s the setting that cools comfortably and costs the least to run.
The single most useful thing to know is that setting 16°C does not cool the room any faster. The compressor works at the same rate either way — it just runs far longer before it stops, which is why a very low setting inflates your bill without getting you comfortable any sooner.
Dawlance AC remote symbols explained
Button names vary slightly between models, but the symbols are near-universal:
| Symbol / button | What it does | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Snowflake — Cool | Normal cooling | Everyday summer use |
| Water drop — Dry | Removes humidity with minimal cooling | Monsoon days that feel sticky rather than hot |
| Fan | Circulates air without cooling | Mild days when you just want air movement |
| Sun — Heat | Warms the room (heat and cool models only) | Winter |
| Auto | Picks the mode itself based on room temperature | When you don’t want to think about it |
| Turbo / Powerful | Runs at maximum to cool quickly | First 10–15 minutes after coming home, then switch back |
| Sleep | Gradually raises the temperature overnight | Sleeping — saves power without waking you cold |
| Swing | Moves the louvres to spread air | Leave on so cold air doesn’t pool in one spot |
| Fan speed | Low, medium, high or auto | Auto is best for most situations |
| Timer | Switches on or off after a set period | Cooling the room before you get home; off after you sleep |
The settings that actually save electricity
Set 26°C, not 16°C. This is the most expensive misunderstanding in Pakistani homes. An air conditioner doesn’t blow colder air at a lower setting — the thermostat simply decides when to stop. At 16°C the unit almost never reaches its target, so it runs continuously all afternoon. At 26°C it cools the room and then idles, which on an inverter unit means running gently at low power. The room feels comfortable either way; only the bill differs.
Use Turbo briefly, not permanently. Turbo is for pulling a hot room down quickly when you walk in. Once it’s comfortable, switch back to normal — leaving Turbo on defeats the efficiency of an inverter.
Use Dry mode in the monsoon. When the air is heavy and sticky rather than genuinely hot, Dry mode removes humidity using far less power than full cooling, and the room feels noticeably better.
Use Sleep mode overnight. It lets the temperature drift up slowly as the night cools, so you’re not paying to over-cool an empty-feeling room at 4am.
Remote not responding?
| Problem | Try this |
|---|---|
| No response at all | Replace the batteries — this is the cause the large majority of the time |
| Works only very close up | Weak batteries, or the sensor window on the indoor unit is dusty. Wipe it clean |
| Display blank or faint | Batteries again, or they’re in the wrong way round |
| Unit ignores commands | Check you’re pointing at the indoor unit with nothing blocking the path |
| Temperature won’t go lower | Some modes lock the temperature — switch to Cool mode first |
If none of that helps, the indoor unit’s receiver may need attention — call our helpline on 0333-5652643 and we’ll point you to the right service support.

Dawlance AC remote: FAQs
Does setting the AC to 16°C cool the room faster?
No. The compressor works at the same rate whatever the setting — the temperature only tells the unit when to stop. At 16°C it rarely reaches its target, so it runs continuously and uses far more electricity. Setting around 26°C cools the room just as quickly and costs considerably less.
What is Dry mode on an AC remote?
Dry mode removes humidity from the air with minimal cooling. It’s ideal on sticky monsoon days when the problem is dampness rather than heat, and it uses noticeably less electricity than running full cooling.
What temperature should I set my AC to in Pakistan?
Around 26°C is the practical balance between comfort and running cost for most homes. Every degree lower means the unit runs longer to hold the temperature. Combined with Auto fan speed and Swing left on, that’s the setting most people find comfortable through a Pakistani summer.
Should I use Turbo mode all the time?
No. Turbo runs the unit at maximum to cool a hot room quickly, so it’s useful for the first ten or fifteen minutes. Leaving it on permanently keeps the compressor working hard and removes the efficiency advantage of an inverter unit.
My AC remote isn’t working — what should I check?
Replace the batteries first; that solves it most of the time. If it works only from very close, the batteries may be weak or the sensor window on the indoor unit is dusty, so wipe it clean. Also check nothing is blocking the line of sight to the unit.
Can I buy a Dawlance AC on installments?
Yes. We offer zero down payment EMI through Bank Alfalah, JS Bank and MCB credit and debit cards, with a fully automated checkout. A bank markup applies, so the total is a little above the cash price. Cash on Delivery is available too, and installation support is available on selected products.
