Midnight Blue or black: what changes on the CM2?
Only the colour. The GR-D6520G-CB2 in this range is the black version, and the CM2 shares its 255 litre capacity, cooling system, features and warranty. Choose the CM2 if you want the fridge to be a feature of the kitchen or lounge rather than blend into it. The deep blue glass has a floral texture and a concealed handle, and unlike a painted steel door it does not fade or peel; a damp cloth keeps it clean.
Storage for a small family’s week
The 175 litre fridge section has adjustable shelves, four door racks, a crisper box for sabzi and an egg tray. That covers milk packets, dahi, eggs, a few days of vegetables and a pot of leftovers for a family of three or four. The 80 litre freezer holds a weekly supply of chicken, qeema and ice, and an LED light keeps the shelves visible.
How the CM2 copes with heat and power cuts
A bigger condenser removes heat from the cabinet faster, and thicker insulation keeps the cold inside. In a hot Peshawar summer and during load-shedding that means steadier temperatures, provided the doors stay shut while the power is off. The compressor is a T1 (temperate class) unit, so give it a shaded spot with a few inches of air around it.
This model is not sold as a low-voltage fridge. Where evening voltage drops, use a stabiliser with a time delay. Because it is direct cool, frost gathers in the freezer and needs a manual defrost now and then; the ice scratcher is supplied for that. The detachable anti-bacterial gasket can be taken off and washed, and the fridge uses R600a refrigerant with a 4 star, class A rating.
