It is a big-screen QLED for a family lounge that streams films, follows cricket and wants colour that holds up in daylight. The QA65Q80C costs Rs. 460,000 at AYS Online today.

QLED colour on the QA65Q80C

QLED stands for Quantum Dot LED. A layer of quantum dots sits in front of the backlight and turns light into purer colours, which lets the screen show a wider range of shades at higher brightness than a standard LED panel. On the QA65Q80C that means more than a billion colours, so gradients such as a sky at sunset or the shading in a face look smooth rather than banded. Pair that with 4K Ultra HD resolution, which packs four times the pixels of Full HD, and detail holds up even on a screen this size.

Streaming and apps on the 65 inch Q80C

The TV runs Tizen OS, Samsung’s own smart platform. Streaming apps, the web browser and your connected devices sit on one home screen, so the family can jump from a drama on YouTube to a film on Netflix without an extra box. Voice search, app updates and sign-ins are handled by the TV itself, which keeps the remote and the setup simple for older family members.

• Screen: 65 inch, flat, 3840 x 2160.
• Panel: QLED with over a billion colours.
• Design: slim body that suits a modern lounge.
• Mounting: VESA-compatible, so it fits standard wall brackets of the right pattern.

Is 65 inches right for your room?

A 65 inch 4K screen looks best from roughly 6 to 8 feet. In most Pakistani drawing rooms that is the gap between the main sofa and the wall. Closer than about 5 feet, you may find yourself turning your head during sport; further than 9 feet, a larger size could make better use of 4K. On a wall bracket, set the centre of the screen near seated eye level so the whole family watches comfortably for long stretches.
