What a per-hour rating means
A litres-per-hour rating describes how much water the cooler can chill in an hour, which is the figure to compare when sizing a cooler for an office, school, mosque, factory floor or a busy shop through the summer.
Placement and upkeep
An electric water cooler chills water with a compressor, so give it a shaded, well-ventilated spot with space around the back for air to move, away from direct sun on a hot veranda or rooftop. Connect it through a voltage stabiliser where supply is uneven, keep taps and the drip area clean, and have the water filtered before it reaches the cooler.
