Hello! Thank you for reaching out. Let's get your hob working perfectly without matchboxes:
- How the Auto-Ignition Works: Built-in hobs use a battery-operated ignition system. Look underneath the hob (the bottom side)—you will find a small plastic battery box. You need to insert a large 1.5V battery (D-size cell) into this box. Once the battery is installed, push the knob down and you will hear a continuous "tick-tick-tick" sound. Push the knob down, turn it to ignite the flame, and hold it down for 3 to 5 seconds before releasing.
- What are the White and Grey "Pipes"? Those two parts next to the burner are key functional and safety features:
- The White Part (Ceramic Spark Plug): This is the ignition pin. When you push the knob with a battery installed, this part generates the electric spark to light the gas.
- The Grey Part (Thermocouple): This is your Flame Failure Safety Device . It senses the heat of the flame. If liquid spills or wind blows the flame out accidentally, this sensor immediately shuts off the gas supply to prevent any dangerous gas leakage in your kitchen.
