Getting a smooth finish without overdoing the heat
Straighten only fully dry hair, and work in small sections so each pass does the job once. A heat protectant spray helps, especially for hair that is coloured or already dry from winter weather. Fine or damaged hair needs less heat than thick, coarse hair, so avoid going over the same section again and again. After styling, switch off, unplug and let the plates cool on a heat-safe surface before you put the straightener away.
